Art Appreciation - contact Brenda Kelly - 01277 840621 PROGRAMME - March 2010 to December 2010 Meetings to take place on the 4th Tuesday of the month unless otherwise advised For all day excursions to London, we take the first cheap day train either from Hatfield Peverel, Chelmsford, Ingatestone or Shenfield and meet by the barrier at Liverpool Street (unless otherwise informed) and then continue our journey by bus or tube. For outings involving cars, we will try and arrange for everyone to have a lift wherever possible. AMBLING GROUP Proposed Amble in April. We are hoping to organise a visit to the Henry Moore Foundation at Perry Green, Much Hadham in Herts on Thursday 29th April. It includes a tour of the house at 11.30 and a tour of the gardens at 2.30 The cost would be £12 or £8 for concessions. We meet in the afternoon of the third Thursday of the month in various homes. We are a friendly, dedicated group, bound together by a love of books and poetry. Every meeting has a definite theme and we discuss authors, poets, books and various literary genres as a group. Guest speakers are most welcome, and so far this year we have had talks on Wilkie Collins and Philip Larkin. |

Local History Group January to June 2010 Programme 22nd Mar Barges on the Blackwater by Stephen Nunn & Geoff Clark An illustrated talk on the historic link between Maldon and the Thames Sailing Barge. 6th Apr Visit to Warley Place, Brentwood Following the talk we had last year by Olive & Thelma we will have a guided tour of this interesting garden by a member of the Essex Wildlife Trust. Cost: £2.50 donation to the EWT. 4th May Thurrock An Unusual Heritage by Jonathan Catton Our speaker is the Heritage & Museum Officer of the Thurrock Borough Council. 1st Jun Visit to Ingatestone Hall Following requests we have arranged a guided tour of this historic Elizabethan House; home to the Petre family. Do you like to paint? (Pictures, that is, not walls!) Do you find that you never seem to make time to enjoy your art? If so, why not join Art Group 2, a friendly group of like-minded U3A members, who meet every Tuesday morning at the Goodwin Room, in Boreham Village Hall , from 9.30am until12.30pm. We do not have a tutor, but all paint or draw whatever we wish, fuelled by an unending supply of coffee or tea and biscuits.
